Oct 26 - A Free Day: the Home Away from Home

We knew that with jet lag to deal with, our visitors would not be eager to be held to a schedule on their first day in New Orleans, so having shown them where to board the ferry and provided maps of the French Quarter, we left them to their own devices while Lloyd and I attended Morris Dobard's funeral.

The following photos were all taken by Bernard, who shared his 1597 photos with us via a thumb drive (USB key in French) before they departed.

By daylight, they could see their home for the visit at 527 Bouny Street in Algiers.
This typically New Orleans double shotgun house has been subdivided. The Daubards' accommodation was at the back of the house and included use of a lovely enclosed patio.

The place was well supplied with linens and
other amenities for a comfortable visit.

They were interested in the voodoo figures and enjoyed the local art on display.

The kitchen was well appointed but for a microwave
with a mysterious operating system.

A lovely enclosed patio behind the apartment.
